We are looking for a Packaging Engineer to join our team and support packaging innovation, commercialization, and continuous improvement across our food and beverage portfolio. This role will focus on developing and validating packaging solutions that meet consumer needs, drive operational efficiency, and support our sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and commercialize primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions for new products and existing product improvements.
- Plan and execute packaging trials, line validations, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure packaging performance and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Marketing, Procurement, and Sustainability) to deliver packaging that balances cost, functionality, and circularity.
- Collaborate with external teams of partners and Comanufacturers to optimize existingpackaging specs and qualify new ones.
- Point person for any packaging related reporting for sustainability requirements such as EPR, B Corp, customer requests and other regulatory compliances.
- Create and maintain accurate packaging specifications, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Research and apply new packaging materials, formats, and technologies, with emphasis on recyclability, post-consumer recycled content, and sustainable design.
- Troubleshooting of packaging and equipment performance at internal sites, comanufacturers, and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for productivity, automation, and process optimization.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, co-packers, and equipment vendors.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across packaging systems.
- Support the internal artwork design and approval process. Ensure accurate use of printer die-lines, packaging claims, barcodes, user instructions, and other critical functionalities are appropriate and accurate on all packaging artwork.
Salary range for this role is $90-$110K.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or related technical discipline.
- 2–5+ years of packaging engineering experience in the food, beverage, or CPG industry.
- Experience with both rigid (thermoforming, injection molding, extrusion blow molding) and flexible packaging (films, pouches, sachets).
- Knowledge of materials such as polyolefins (PE, PP, HDPE, PS), corrugate, paperboard, and barrier packaging.
- Familiarity with packaging testing, validation protocols, and statistical tools for problem solving.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work across cross-functional teams.
- Innovative thinker with problem-solving mindset, comfortable in fast-paced environments.
- Willingness to travel up to 25–30%.
