General Summary
The Product Safety Process Lead will be part of the Product Safety Process at Patagonia and is responsible for being the core subject matter expert for Patagonia in Apparel & Outdoor product safety. This includes deep and varied knowledge and experience in hazard risk assessment, and best practice approaches applied in all stages of product creation from Design to Manufacturing. This role will also be responsible for maintaining key networks and safety related awareness across our industry and marketplaces, and drive identification and implementation on requirements that come up or change, and to ensure each other department is clear on their part of Impact/required decision making/execution to ensure Product Safety compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Leading the Product Safety Process, the safety engineer will coordinate information between departments, lead core safety practices such as product/concept reviews at Design and Development, lead Safety standards development, and educating and consulting Product teams about requirements, process, and specifications.
- The Safety Engineer will also keep departments and Key Stakeholders up to date on new or revised regulations that may be relevant to product safety specifications.
- Product Safety Process Lead creates procedures and guidelines to ensure that governmental and industry regulations are met in both international and domestic markets.
- The Product Safety Process Lead will be responsible for coordinating Product testing utilizing 3rd party laboratories, and the preparation and submissions of Product certification technical files to Notified bodies.

Experience You Bring
- 3+ years of technical experience in Product Safety, with emphasis on Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and/or Design
- Direct experience with Product Safety of Apparel and Sports Equipment
- Knowledgeable of Product Safety regulations & requirements for North America
- Knowledge of European PPE & Safety regulations a plus
- BS in Engineering or Physical Sciences (Materials, Polymers, Textiles, Chemical), Masters or Advanced Degree a plus
- Professional Quality Certifications Preferred (ASQ CQE, CRE, or Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
Hiring Range: $101,200-$106,800 USD Annual
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget. Note the full pay range for this role ranges from: $ 89,900 - $134,900 USD Annual. The Hiring Range reflects where in the range we intend to hire for this role.

Workplace Location Overview
This position is Hybrid, with a standard schedule of Tuesday - Thursday on-site and remote work on other days. Occasional additional office visits may be required for team events or critical meetings.
