Compensation: $27.00 per hour

The Cook is responsible for assisting other level Cooks and Chef by accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, Grab ‘N Go, Dinner and occasional Special/Catered Events.
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe workstation and area which will include: some dishwashing, deep cleaning, and general equipment maintenance. High standards of cleanliness and sanitation must be kept, and a Food Handler’s card can be obtained with Patagonia’s help. This role requires some flexibility of hours but requires daily punctuality and attendance.

What You’ll Do
Cook will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor daily.
- Strong level of time management
- Must maintain a sense of urgency, work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Assistance with food preparation or execution of menu items, Grab ‘N Go in an accurate and timely fashion
- Maintain quality and consistency of all foods served
- Maintain inventory and communicate with the Lead Cook
- Assist in receiving items and properly storing them in assigned location
- Ensure all food is stored properly to include wrapped, label, and date with expiration dates
- Advanced allergen knowledge to accurately label and communicate as needed
- Ensure station / service is set on time with the appropriate amount of food and supplies for the projected business
- Remain knowledgeable of the proper taste and presentation of all menu items, in all stations
- Assist in controlling food cost by monitoring waste and prepping accordingly to meet business levels
- Set up and break down service (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) including cleaning procedures
- Create Specials once tested and approved by Leadership
- Solid working knowledge of knife cuts and techniques such as brunoised, julienne, braise, stock/soup making
- Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area
- Display work habits that promote accident prevention
- Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards by the health department, state, and company regulations
- Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, professional approach with coworkers, customers and vendors and team-oriented workplace culture.
- Must exhibit strong teamwork skills
- Will work at multiple locations on the Reno and Verdi campuses
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver catering services in support of departmental functions and special events.
