General Summary
The Midwest Field Service Associate is responsible for territory sales support and assisting in implementing the Company sales, marketing, and distribution objectives. The primary role of the Midwest Field Service Representative is to support the Regional Sales Directors and the Territory Sales + Impact Representatives in offering unparalleled service, training, and partnership to our wholesale accounts in the region. The Field Service Associate is the face of the brand in the market. They collaborate with various internal stakeholders, work closely with our accounts, remain active in the community, and possess the ability to inspire others to engage and act. What you’ll do:
Organization and Planning
- Work closely with the Territory Sales + Impact Representatives and Regional Sales Directors on seasonal account plans, initiatives and events/tradeshow/meeting participation to meet territory sales goals
- Maintain an up-to-date calendar detailing a daily, weekly and seasonal schedule of clinics, store visits and events including tradeshows and sales meetings.
- Plan and manage territory travel within a given timeline and budget
- Become ‘expertly’ versed in all aspects of the Patagonia product offering (technologies, environmentally responsible attributes, and marketing) and relay that information to wholesale dealer’s front-line staff via clinics and store visits.
- Plan time within store visits to cover applicable business issues, support programs and promotional product sales.
- Collaborate with the North American sales channels (Retail, Wholesale, and CX) leads to create a strategy and calendar for seasonal brand and product training for frontline staff
- Work closely with the Marketplace and Events and Experiences teams to bring seasonal initiatives and event experience to life
Service
- Educate Patagonia wholesale/retail staff and customers via clinics, store visits and demos. Clinic or visit all accounts outlined by reps, including specialty, national and direct retail stores (2x per year minimum).
- Ensure technical credibility in the marketplace by providing training on our design ethos, product and core sport specifications and multitude of end uses
- Collaborate with the North American sales channels (Retail, Wholesale, and CX) leads to create a strategy and calendar for seasonal brand and product training for frontline staff.
- Utilize resources and information from the Company's Visual Merchandising Group and Wholesale Leadership to work on in-store merchandising plans and improvement
- Serve as on-the-ground support for grassroots marketing events and programs and in-store wholesale dealer events
- Provide feedback regarding current accounts, products and technologies to sales and product management teams.
- Work with Regional Sales Director and Territory Sales + Impact Representatives on an as needed basis to help support other dealer events and programs within the Company's wholesale distribution network
Selling
- Work with Territory Sales + Impact Representatives to support sales goals
- Support seasonal needs at the Minneapolis / St. Paul company showroom
- Maintain an up-to-date contact list for Retail Stores and Wholesale Key Accounts
- Present the product line to dealers on an as-needed basis: Specifically, the Midwest Fish Accounts determined by the Regional Sales Director and Regional Fish Sales Representative in both Spring and Fall seasons
- Manage the Midwest Fish sample set
- Provide timely feedback to sales reps on sell-through and ASAP opportunities.
- Educate dealers on the employee purchase program and support seeding where needed.
- Engage in employee purchase, replenishment, discontinued merchandise and special make-up sales pushes as needed.
- Use Employee Purchase Program (Summit) as needed to meet sales goals and support the dealers’ business; market and educate dealer employees about the program.
- Assist in identifying prospective dealers which meet territory distribution needs and company marketing objectives.
- Within store visits, plan time to cover applicable business issues, support programs, ASAP sales and promotional product sales
Communication
- Communicate regularly by phone and email with the Regional Sales Director to provide information on specific issues, sales, product information, and general economic and business situations.
- Stay current on all Patagonia initiatives including Product, Marketing, Enviro, PR, Wornwear and Provisions and convey updates to accounts.
- Ensure frontline staff are aware of environmental initiatives and how they can take action
- Write monthly reports capturing key activities, successes, and opportunities/challenges.
- Return calls and emails from dealers and Company colleagues within 24 hours and dealer inquiries within 48 hours.
- Provide feedback and reports within 24 hours of every visit and 48 hours after events.

Experience you bring:
- 2+ years’ experience with direct sales of outdoor apparel, including in-store and digital marketing, merchandising, and events.
- Knowledge of regional and national industry trends, an understanding of customer needs, and the ability effectively incorporate them into sales strategies
- Public speaking, presentation, and/or training experience in professional settings
- Existing proficiency in PC-based Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to learn new digital systems and tools including Tableau, B2b, SharePoint, Brand Portal, OneNote, and CRM
- Expertise in Patagonia’s key sport and lifestyle categories. Direct experience in the fly-fishing category is preferred
- Community involvement, and/or activism experience focused on environmentalism or social justice
- Prior success partnering, collaborating, and building relationships with all levels of an organization
- Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising, or related field (or equivalent additional experience)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. sample bags and show displays for up to 100 feet
- Full time residency in Minneapolis-St. Paul Area
- Comfortable with extensive travel (100+ nights/year on the road)
- Primary territory includes WI, MN, MI, IN, IL, MO, IA, however, travel to other markets (domestic or international) will also be required.
- The ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Able and willing to work long hours and weekends during key sales periods.
Hiring Range: $72,000 to $82,000 USD Annual
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget. Note the full pay range for this role ranges from $72,000 to $108,000 USD Annual. The Hiring Range reflects where in the range we intend to hire for this role.
